SPE London Section - Students and Scholarships

The SPE London Section has provided support to petroleum engineering students for more than 30 years.

The London Chapter SPE sponsors Student Chapters at the following universities providing petroleum couses: Salford, Manchester, Leeds, Derby, Coventry, Portsmouth, Imperial College, and London South Bank.

Interest has also been received from Tees and Glamorgan Univerities.

A financial donation is provided each year to these chapters by the London Chapter SPE. This can be used for a variety of purposes such as funding field trips or industry visits, travel to the monthly London Chapter monthly meetings and library books.

In addition, the Young Professionals section of the London Chapter visit the Student Chapters to provide lectures and graduate skills workshops to advise and familiarize students with the oil and gas industry, and who and where to apply for jobs.

Students are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings in London at a reduced fee of £6. These meetings consist of a before supper round table discussion of techical matters followed by a lecture on technical, commecial and topical matters by keynote speakers, including SPE Diststinguised Speakers from around the world offering a good insight into the industry.
