The SPE Young Professionals Programme

In an industry where the average age is 45 – and rising – the SPE’s Young Professionals Programme (YP) aims to reverse the trend by engaging with young petroleum engineers and supporting their development on both the personal and professional levels.

In the UK, the Aberdeen and London Sections each run an active YP which is open to all E&P professionals under the age of 35 and combines a lively programme of technical and non-technical seminars, forums and social activities.

Both programmes are part of a far wider global initiative by the SPE to expose young engineers to the latest thinking in E&P technology and management skills to prepare them to take their place as the industry leaders of the future.

News and information about YP activity around the world is carried in a magazine called The Way Ahead, which is published three times each year.
