The SPE London YP group provides members with a range of events, trips and social activities. The focus of the group is for London-based E&P professionals under 35 years of age. The group's intention is to create technical, networking and social events for young members of the London oil and gas community.

Events and functions include:

• Contact with London universities through the Ambassador Lecture Programme
• Contact with the SPE London, on the parent organisation's Board and in the SPE panel sessions
• Field trips, recently to a technology transfer followed by non-technical lectures and discussion
• Social/networking events

London YP is currently looking for sponsors for other events in the coming year.

Event: Annual General Meeting 8-9 August 2009

Annual General Meeting of SPE was held at Wallingford. As a team –building event, a beginners’ golf session at and dinner was organized on Aug 8, 2009. On Aug 9, the meeting was hosted by Fugro House 9 am- 3pm. The main discussions which took place:

·         Existing committee roles  
·         Brainstorming around each role   
·         Revised roles        
·         Calendar of events for 2009        

SPE YP extended the strength to 16 from the existing 8 in wake of increasing events and broadening objectives.  Mo Mansoori, the existing chairman stepped done to take a new role at SPE London. YP committee thanked Mo for his commitment towards SPE YP for last 3 years as a member and last 1 year as Chairman.

The new officers for 2009-2010 were elected at Annual General Meeting:

We are happy to announce the first overseas field trip at Schlumberger Research Center, Paris with a get-together with SPE YP Paris section.

. Introduction to Recent Advancements in Reservoir Characterisation Technologies - SLB's Clamart product centre in Paris
. A Cocktail Evening in Paris along with the SPE YP - Paris Section
Day 2: (Saturday 26th Sep 2009)
. Group Social Event in the morning & afternoon
. Return to London
Fees:
Because this trip is considered as a Technical field trip, we would expect individuals (or their company) to finance their own Travel and Accommodation. Schlumberger has kindly accepted to part-sponsor the event and provide the session at no cost.
SPE-London YP has previously organised fee-based field-trips and companies have been generally happy to finance these costs. So speak to your Manager!!

Transportation & Accommodation:
Participants must book their own transportation & accommodation. A list of recommended hotels will be made available soon to allow the group to stay together.
